Notice biographique

(Chicago, 1952 - ) Romancier, David Homel est né d'une famille russe hébraïque. Il commence à voyager très tôt et arrive à Paris à l'âge de dix-sept ans. Après avoir pratiqué divers métiers, il poursuit des études en littérature aux États Unis, en France et au Canada. Il s'installe à Toronto en 1975, où il est traducteur dans le milieu de l'édition.... C'est à Montréal, en 1980, qu'il commence sa vie d'écrivain. Outre ses romans, il a écrit des essais sur la traduction, le feu et les pompiers, la musique gospel et le voyage.

David Homel a reçu le Prix du Gouverneur général, section traduction, pour Why must a Black Writer Write About Sex en 1995. En 2001, il a été nommée au Conseil d'administration du CALQ pour un mandant de quatre ans. Il est membre de l'Union des écrivaines et des écrivains québécois.
